For a first visit, a single night or a trip without a scooter, start around Baishawei harbour. For more room space and garden time, compare Shanfu and Shangfu. If you want the eastern shore, Houshi or the southwestern coast to shape the trip, plan the island transfer before booking. All ten properties below are on Liuqiu Island itself; Donggang accommodation is a separate mainland decision.

These are mainly B&Bs and small inns, plus a villa-style property. Their strengths are individual rooms, views and local hosting. Do not assume full-service hotel facilities or 24-hour reception. The most useful checks are the building, actual room occupancy, arrival pier and meal plan.

The building label matters. An A-building Sea View Double has about 16.5m² and one queen bed; the A-building Deluxe Sea View Quad has about 26.4m² and two queens, with a four-person capacity. A B-building Standard Double is also around 16.5m², but is a different product. Another family category explicitly uses an external bathroom. Exclude that one if an en-suite bathroom is essential.

Compared with Aurora on the far side of the island, Sea Month makes the luggage logistics much easier. The trade-off is that a working harbour is not a secluded coastal retreat. Ask about the room’s orientation if you are noise-sensitive. Listed check-in is 14:00–18:00; arrange luggage storage or a later arrival before travelling.

The Quadruple Room has approximately 29.8m², two double beds and a stated four-person capacity. Both the regular double and the Sea View Double with Balcony are approximately 16.5m² with one double bed; the latter is listed on floors three and four. Decide whether you need room for four people or whether two of you are paying for a balcony. Those are different uses of the budget.

Compare it with Sea Month for a short stay, particularly if you prefer a dedicated quad over a harbour-front room. Standard check-in runs from 15:00 to 18:00, with advance contact required outside that window. Ignore the mainland train-station distance as an arrival plan: you still need a ferry and the final island transfer.

Shan Ban Bay by Riverinn has a more spacious garden setting than the smaller harbour B&Bs. It makes sense for families planning to spend part of an afternoon at the accommodation, rather than returning only to sleep. “Villa” should not be interpreted as a private pool attached to every room.

The Garden Quad is listed at around 58–60m² with two queens and capacity for four. The separate Villa Quad is around 59m², also with two queens. Several similarly named garden and deluxe products appear on the platform; compare the exact row of room details rather than applying the largest floor area to the cheapest rate.

The decisive limitation is the splash pool: the property currently announces a seasonal closure, with reopening to be announced. Choose the gardens and room space on their own merits. For public transport, combine the current 601 service with a pre-booked local ride. Confirm the suitable stop and final transfer with the property before travelling; a booked pickup remains simpler with suitcases or in rain.

The Garden Triple is approximately 42m² with one single and one king bed, with capacity for three. The Family Room with Balcony is around 56m² with three king beds for six; a garden quad is around 40m² with two queens for four. Three friends who each want their own bed should note that the triple still requires two people to share.

Choose Oceanic Pearl over a compact sea-view family room at 1302 when indoor space is the priority. Many of the compared categories explicitly say Garden View. There is a lift, but confirm the building and any entrance steps for reduced mobility. Breakfast, ferry tickets and activities belong to the selected package, so do not import direct-booking package benefits into a room-only platform rate.

A separate Sea View Family Room is only about 19m² despite also accommodating four. For a family with large bags, the extra space is worth considering; Oceanic Pearl offers a different, roomier alternative.

Our recommendation is for guests who value the outlook and accept a small-property experience. A sea-view room cannot guarantee turtles or a swimmable shore. If bringing a pet, confirm the permitted category, animal type and charges first. Also distinguish a passenger pickup from luggage-only delivery when arranging your arrival.

Watch for the “Standard Quadruple Room, Double Occupancy” product. It contains two double beds but has a two-person capacity in the room record. Book a genuine four-guest offer for a family of four.

This is a sensible comparison for families wanting space and a simple place for children to splash. The children’s pool is not a standard adult swimming pool; confirm opening and swimwear rules. Check how breakfast is supplied under your rate, and agree the arrival and luggage arrangements in advance rather than assuming reception hours or every package benefit are identical across channels.

Loju Sunrise is for travellers deliberately choosing Houshi and the southern coast. It puts the evening and early morning in a different setting from the harbour settlement, with an extra island journey after the ferry. Dafu harbour and Houshi belong to the wider southeastern itinerary, but they are not the same arrival point.

The Sea View Quad has about 24m² and two queens for four. The six-person category has about 33m² and three queens. In contrast, the Sunrise Double is a compact, windowless 14m² room. If daylight is important, exclude it. For groups expecting to spend a lot of time indoors, compare the available space with Oceanic Pearl or Riverinn rather than focusing only on capacity.

Choose it for a south-coast plan, not as the automatic easiest ferry base. Obtain the arrival pin associated with your booking and share that with the driver. Sunrise visibility depends on the weather, and a nearby shoreline is not an assurance of safe or unrestricted swimming.

10. Xiaoliuqiu Aurora Seaview Homestay | Couples and families choosing sea-facing cabin accommodation

Aurora Seaview is on Xinyi Road near Black Dwarf Cave, on the southwestern side of the island. It is a good match for travellers who want to be settled near the coast by late afternoon. Use the full address: other accommodation with a similar Aurora name should not be treated as the same property.

The detached Sea View Quad Cabin is around 28m² with two queens for four. The six-person cabin is around 35m² with three queens. The double, however, is about 20m² with one double bed on the second floor above the reception building. Two people booking for the cabin experience must choose the room category carefully.

We would choose it when the quieter southwestern setting is part of the trip and local transport is already organised. Dinner, the return from activities and departure-day luggage require planning. You can stay without riding a scooter, using suitable buses or booked rides, but it will take more coordination than staying at Baishawei. Sunsets and wildlife sightings remain weather- and nature-dependent.

Getting from Kaohsiung to the island, then to your room

Plan three separate legs: Kaohsiung to Donggang, the ferry crossing, then the journey from the island pier to your accommodation. An online listing’s straight-line distance from Kaohsiung Airport or Linbian station is not a door-to-door transport connection.

The Taiwan Tourist Shuttle 601 Xiaoliuqiu service launched on 1 January 2026, making a scooter-free itinerary possible. Check the current direction, stops and final departure before committing to evening plans. With suitcases, consider booked rides for arrival and departure, using the bus for lighter daytime trips. If a rental shop handles your luggage, agree the exact building, collection time and who moves it back on departure day.

Five checks before paying

1. Confirm the complete property name, building and address, particularly Sea Month A/B, Secretpath’s separate houses and similarly named Loju stays.
2. Enter every adult and child’s age. Check maximum occupancy, bed arrangement and whether the bathroom is inside the room.
3. Make sure sea view, balcony, bathtub and windows appear in the selected room description.
4. Compare the complete total and cancellation deadline. Treat breakfast, transfers, luggage delivery and activities as separate inclusions unless explicitly bundled.
5. Allow for weather disruption and reception closing times. Verify the current pool status if it is a deciding factor.

Xiaoliuqiu accommodation FAQs

1. How many nights should I stay?

One night can work for a first taste of island life, especially near Baishawei. Two nights give more room for a water activity, an island circuit and downtime. Avoid changing accommodation every night simply to collect different views: packing and moving bags can consume the useful gaps between activities.

2. Can I visit without riding a scooter?

Yes. Baishawei makes meals and ferry access simpler on foot. For more distant properties, combine the current 601 service with pre-booked local rides. Do not assume an electric vehicle avoids licensing requirements; check the vehicle type and applicable rules. Have a plan for returning after the last bus.

3. Are Baishawei and Dafu harbour interchangeable?

No. Confirm the operator, mainland departure port and island arrival port on the ticket, then give those details to the accommodation or driver. Staying in the south does not ensure a suitable Dafu sailing. Check whether your return ticket is tied to a particular operator as well.

4. Do two double beds mean four people can stay?

Not automatically. Loju Seaview lists a double-occupancy product in a room with two double beds. Book the offer that includes your full party. Child sharing policies, extra beds and maximum room occupancy are separate conditions, and a comment left after booking does not change them.
