For central Hsinchu, start by checking Rihao bus 1250 from Taoyuan Airport. For Zhubei or the Hsinchu HSR area, compare Airport MRT to A18 Taoyuan HSR, followed by a southbound high-speed train. The useful comparison is the whole trip to your hotel, including waits and the final transfer.
Hsinchu HSR is in Zhubei. Hsinchu TRA is in the city center. Bus 1250 serves Hsinchu Bus Station and city stops. Put your accommodation and these separate arrival points on a map before buying anything.

Compare the three practical options
| Option | Fare structure | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rihao 1250 to Hsinchu Bus Station | Regular published adult fare: NT$177 from T1 or NT$171 from T2; separate three-seat-row tariff: NT$219/212 | Central Hsinchu, Tsing Hua University or Guangfu Road; fewer changes with bags | Uneven intervals, road traffic and vehicle-specific fares |
| Airport MRT plus HSR | MRT to A18, plus NT$130 for a standard HSR adult ticket Taoyuan–Hsinchu, plus the final connection | Zhubei and the Hsinchu HSR area | At least one transfer, more for central Hsinchu |
| Booked car or taxi | Quote for the destination, vehicle, waiting and nighttime terms | Groups, several bags, young children or late arrivals | Higher cost; still exposed to highway congestion |
Both bus fare charts remain linked from Rihao’s official route page. Do not assume the cheapest figure applies to every vehicle. Compare your actual terminals, vehicle type and luggage needs with any platform discount before paying.
Bus 1250 boards at both airport terminals
After arrivals, follow the bus signs and find 1250 for Hsinchu Bus Station. There is no need to travel into Taipei or change terminals merely because a search result mentions Terminal 1. Boarding bays can change, so follow current airport signs and Rihao instructions.
Hsinchu-side stops include National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University on Guangfu Road, National Tsing Hua University, Mackay Hospital, Second Police Precinct and Park Station. A stop before the terminal may suit a university-area hotel. These are not interchangeable with Hsinchu HSR, and the airport route is not a general hop-on city-bus ticket.
Overnight operation has gaps
The timetable currently linked by Rihao took effect July 23, 2025 and lists 18 departures each way. Airport-side departures are 01:00, 03:00, 05:00, 06:30, 07:30, 08:30, 09:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 17:30, 18:30, 19:30, 21:30 and 22:30.
This establishes overnight service but also some two-hour gaps. It is the airport-side chart, not a promise that both terminals depart at the same minute. Confirm your terminal’s boarding time when arranging the trip. Flight touchdown is not the time you will reach the bus: allow for immigration, baggage, customs and the walk outside.
If a delayed arrival would leave your group waiting a long time, compare a booked car to the hotel. A late-night plan should include the next possible bus, not rely on catching one tight connection after an international flight.
Buying a voucher and reserving a departure
Rihao recommends reserving three days ahead. Its notice gives working-day telephone hours of 09:00–18:00 at 02-2975-3868 extension 825, or its official Facebook and LINE channels linked from the website. Supply the date, departure, boarding stop, name, passenger count and contact number. Treat the seat as arranged after the operator confirms it; walk-up passengers may have to wait if the bus is full.
Rihao accepts the listed EasyCard, iPASS and icash cards with boarding and alighting taps. Bring exact change for cash because the driver does not give change. If you bought a voucher, follow its redemption instructions instead of also tapping a card and inadvertently paying twice.
Klook sells a 1250 one-way voucher. It can be convenient to keep the ticket on your phone, but instant purchase confirmation should not be read as a reserved seat on every departure. Arrange the needed service with Rihao. This one-way package offers cancellation before redemption; your own booking’s terms govern validity, use and changes.
Airport MRT to HSR: head for A18
- At A12 Terminal 1 or A13 Terminal 2, find a Zhongli-bound train that stops at A18
- Leave the MRT at A18 Taoyuan HSR and follow signs into the HSR station
- Choose a southbound high-speed train that actually stops at Hsinchu
- From Hsinchu HSR, continue by the Liujia railway line, taxi or the appropriate local connection
A commuter train is the straightforward choice. Some express trains extend south, but not every purple express service is a train to A18. Read the destination and stopping pattern rather than relying on color. MRT, HSR and TRA are separately ticketed systems.
The high-speed portion is short, but the complete journey includes two waiting periods, a station transfer and possibly a further ride into Hsinchu. A direct bus may be simpler with a good departure and clear roads. HSR is especially attractive when your destination is near Zhubei and the connections line up. Do not make an arrival-day reserved train connection unrealistically tight just to secure a discount.
At Hsinchu HSR, a second-floor passage connects to TRA Liujia Station for trains towards central Hsinchu. See Hsinchu HSR to the city for that final leg.
Bags, children and accessibility
Rihao and the Klook package describe a basic allowance of one piece of luggage per passenger; extra pieces may attract a cash charge based on half the actual vehicle fare. Two small cases can still be two pieces. Confirm oversized bags, strollers and multiple suitcases when reserving rather than applying an airline’s baggage allowance to the bus.
A child seat counts as a passenger position. Count every seat your group needs and confirm child fares and equipment separately. For wheelchair travel, arrange a suitable departure with the operator. Wheelchair symbols beside selected services do not mean every bus is equally accessible. For the rail option, allow time for elevator routes.
Returning from Hsinchu to the airport
The current Hsinchu-side chart lists 00:00, 02:00, 04:00, 05:00, 07:00, 08:00, 09:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 19:00, 20:00, 21:00 and 23:00. A midnight or 02:00 journey must be reserved for the correct calendar date, not ambiguously described as “Friday night.”
Check your airline’s terminal and reporting time, then add road contingency and the walk from the bus. This is not a flight-protected connection. If you move to Taipei for the last night, use the Taipei–Taoyuan Airport guide instead of returning to Hsinchu solely to use an existing ticket.
Questions before booking
Does 1250 stop at Hsinchu HSR?
Its useful stops are in Hsinchu city and at Hsinchu Bus Station. For the HSR district in Zhubei, compare MRT plus HSR.
Does a Klook purchase reserve a particular bus?
Arrange the departure with Rihao according to its reservation notice. A paid voucher and a confirmed seat are different things.
Is HSR always faster?
No. Add the MRT, waits and onward connection. With a suitable departure, the direct bus can save considerable transfer effort.
Can I use the bus after midnight?
There are overnight departures, but long gaps and capacity limits still apply. Choose a realistic service after immigration rather than expecting a continuously available shuttle.
