Taichung to Lihpao Land 2026: Bus 155, Houli and Free Shuttles

For Taichung to Lihpao Land, start with your location. From Taichung HSR Station, compare direct bus 155. From central Taichung railway station, take TRA to Houli and connect with a free shuttle or taxi. From Chaoma, Fengjia or the hotel district around western Taichung, the free Ubus Chaoma–Lihpao Outlet shuttle may fit better. There is no need for everyone to detour through the HSR station.

Plan the return before the day out. Discovery World, Mala Bay, the outlet and Sky Dream Ferris Wheel have different operating arrangements. Shops remaining open does not mean the Houli shuttle is still running. If you are catching HSR afterward, work backward from that departure to decide when to leave the resort.

Choose the route for your starting point

The NT$99 figure comes from the operator’s approved full-fare table for HSR Taichung to Lihpao. Electronic-card reductions are applied separately according to eligibility. Locate HSR Taichung and Xinwuri near the bottom, then Houli station and Lihpao Resort farther north. This complete map side of the December 2025 official tourism brochure provides geographic context. It is not a bus 155 or resort-shuttle route map; its suggested tours and bus labels do not replace current timetables.

From HSR Taichung: bus 155 is direct, but paid

Bus 155 runs from Taichung HSR Station through the city and Houli to Lihpao. The resort advises allowing at least about 90 minutes on the bus. It suits travelers who prefer a longer direct ride to an additional change. Remember to add this substantial local leg when comparing an HSR day trip.

Route 155 and its branch service have different stop patterns. Check the operator’s official route page and Taichung live bus information for your service, boarding platform and destination. On the return, confirm it is heading toward HSR rather than relying on the number alone.

Ordinary visitors do not automatically qualify for Taichung’s resident-only free-distance scheme. A regular electronic card is initially charged NT$15, with the remaining distance-based charge settled later. NT$15 is not the complete fare to Lihpao. Tap on and off; cash passengers should state their destination and confirm the amount.

Who can use the free HSR shuttle?

The resort’s public HSR-shuttle reservation page currently describes a hotel-guest service requiring a Fullon Lihpao or racing-hotel booking number. Reservations close at 17:00 on the previous day, subject to the system’s available dates and seats. An ordinary theme-park admission ticket does not establish eligibility.

If your accommodation or HSR holiday package explicitly includes the transfer, follow that order’s booking-code and reservation instructions. Confirm eligibility first, then use the official shuttle reservation page. Without a confirmed place, plan around bus 155, a rail connection or a taxi.

From Taichung railway station: change at Houli

Check a northbound TRA service to Houli. The free shuttle’s listed boarding point is Houli Elementary School, near the railway station, rather than immediately beside the rail platforms. Allow time to walk to the correct stop, especially with luggage or children.

The resort’s current posted Houli timetable lists the first departure toward Lihpao at 09:25. On weekdays, the 12:25 service is followed by a gap until 16:25. If you arrive during that gap, compare a suitable 155 or 811 bus or a short taxi ride instead of waiting solely to avoid a fare. Confirm current local bus stops and services separately.

These are selected points from the posted timetable, not the full schedule. Before travel, open the free-shuttle section of Lihpao’s official transport guide for date-specific changes. For the return, add the walk back into Houli railway station and the wait for your train.

From Chaoma: Ubus platform 6 to the outlet

The current official shuttle timetable specifies Ubus Chaoma platform 6. Chaoma has different coach facilities, so check the operator rather than waiting at any terminal with the same district name. Add your hotel’s connection to Chaoma to the approximately 30-minute shuttle journey.

The Lihpao stop is by the side exit beside the Zone B P1 entrance lobby at Outlet Mall. Discovery World and Mala Bay still require an onward walk. For outlet shopping or the Ferris wheel, this arrival point may be more convenient.

On the current weekday schedule, the first Chaoma departure is 11:30 and the regular last Lihpao-to-Chaoma departure is 18:50. That first shuttle is too late for a park-opening start. Weekend and holiday services follow a different table, including a Saturday evening arrangement that should not be assumed to run every day.

Save both directions and arrive early. Free shuttles can still be full, delayed or adjusted. If an onward HSR departure is getting close, a taxi alternative also needs a realistic road-time allowance.

The internal resort shuttle is a separate service

The internal loop connects the racing hotel, Fullon hotel, outlet, theme park and racetrack. It does not take you directly to central Taichung. The resort’s posted internal timetable requires weekday reservations at least 15 minutes before departure, made through the relevant stop’s counter or telephone contact.

Check weekend and event-day arrangements with the service desk. The racetrack is farther from the other attractions, so a shared resort name does not mean a shared entrance. Returning from the Ferris wheel to a theme-park bus stop also requires walking or an internal connection.

Choose the attraction before buying a ticket

Discovery World is the land-based theme park; Mala Bay is the seasonal water park; Sky Dream Ferris Wheel has separate ticket options. Outlet shopping is another part of the resort. A Ferris-wheel ticket alone does not grant Discovery World admission.

Mala Bay’s operating days vary by season. A voucher valid until a future date does not guarantee the park is open every day before then. Check the official Mala Bay notices, Ferris-wheel maintenance and the hours of your actual destination before choosing the return service.

Klook lists park tickets, the Ferris wheel and combination tickets on the same page, alongside a transfer package departing from Taipei. Travelers already in Taichung should select the relevant admission product. Some options require a foreign passport or another qualification, and cancellation terms differ.

Children, suitcases and strollers

For a day trip, leave large bags at your Taichung accommodation if possible. If staying at the resort that night, ask the hotel about early storage and the correct arrival point. Bus and shuttle luggage capacity is limited; check large strollers or several suitcases with the operator before relying on the service.

For a group, “TRA to Houli plus a short taxi” can be worth comparing. The resort estimates about NT$250 between Lihpao and Houli station, and about NT$850 to Taichung railway or HSR station. These are not guaranteed quotes; special holidays, vehicle size and waiting can affect the final charge. State your passenger, stroller and suitcase count when arranging a car.

Three return plans

A theme-park day, staying in central Taichung

Choose a suitable Houli shuttle or 155 departure as your target, with a later bus or taxi as backup. For Houli, check both the resort boarding point and the onward train. Do not wait until leaving the park to research the second leg.

Evening outlet shopping and the Ferris wheel

Check the outlet-to-Chaoma service and the final connection to your hotel. The Houli shuttle may already have finished. If you want a late evening, compare a prearranged transfer or resort stay before committing to the plan.

An onward HSR journey

Bus 155 is a substantial journey, and reserved guest shuttles have fixed departure times. Choose a return with buffer before buying the HSR ticket. Include the walk from the attraction exit to the boarding point. If only the last HSR train works, leaving the park earlier is safer than counting on a last-minute taxi.

Taichung to Lihpao questions

Does a park ticket include a free HSR-station transfer?

Not automatically. Independent visitors can use paid bus 155. Eligible hotel guests or a package explicitly including transport must meet its conditions and complete the reservation.

Does the Houli shuttle board directly outside the railway gates?

The official listed stop is Houli Elementary School, near the station. Walk to the designated stop using the resort’s current directions.

Is Chaoma’s free shuttle suitable for reaching the park at opening?

The current weekday first departure is 11:30, making it more suitable for a later arrival or outlet trip. For an earlier start, compare Houli connections, bus 155 or a transfer.

Can I board in the opposite direction at the final time in a shuttle row?

Check the termination note. The Houli-line weekday 17:25 and holiday 19:25 arrivals end at Houli and do not return to Lihpao. Read the full row and direction rather than the last time alone.
