Taoyuan Airport to Taoyuan City 2026: Bus 706, Fares and TRA Station Access

For Taoyuan TRA Station, Fuxing Road and the older Taoyuan city center, check Ubus 706 and its variants first. Airport MRT station A18 is Taoyuan HSR in Qingpu, not Taoyuan TRA. Taking the MRT to A18 still leaves another journey if your hotel is near the traditional railway station.

Match your hotel to the actual bus stops. A 706-series bus can save a transfer for an address on its corridor. With several bags, a very late arrival or a hotel well away from the route, compare a direct car rather than finishing with a difficult walk.

For the capital, use Taoyuan Airport to Taipei. Daxi also needs its own onward plan; compare the Daxi transport connections rather than assuming every destination within Taoyuan City shares an airport bus.

706, 706A and 706B are different variants

The main 706 links the railway station and airport along the Fuxing, Zhongshan and Guoji Road corridor. 706A also serves Dayuan, adding a detour for passengers continuing to central Taoyuan. Airport-to-city 706B additionally serves the airport hotel and has different stop and fare details.

Search each relevant code, then check the full number and destination on the arriving vehicle. Looking only at 706 can hide useful A departures; treating every variant as identical can put you at the wrong stop, particularly around the airport hotel.

Fares to Taoyuan TRA Station

These are ordinary fares to the railway-station terminus. Intermediate stops may cost less, and resident-card discounts have separate eligibility. A normal EasyCard does not automatically provide every Taoyuan Citizen Card benefit. Carry the required proof for a concession instead of simply paying half the adult amount.

Follow the bus’s boarding and alighting tap instructions with an electronic card and prepare exact change for cash. The official Taoyuan bus site lets you choose the variant and endpoints. This is a city bus, not a reserved-seat airport coach product, and a Taipei-bound Airport MRT ticket does not pay for it.

Where to board at the airport

The official stop-address sheet places Terminal 1 boarding in the B1 bus area and Terminal 2 boarding in the 1F bus area. Follow Bus signs and look for the Taoyuan railway-station destination. Use current terminal signs for the actual bay rather than treating a number in an old photograph as permanent.

For the main 706 and 706A towards the city, the sequence is Terminal 1 then Terminal 2. Towards the airport, it is Terminal 2 then Terminal 1. Origin departure times therefore do not mean both terminal stops are served at that exact minute. Select your own terminal and direction in live information.

With a stroller or a slower-moving companion, confirm the stop before moving the whole group. Keep bags away from moving traffic. There is no useful reason to change terminals merely to save a few dollars in bus fare.

Intervals vary: find a real departure before waiting

This is not a fixed every-15-minutes service. For example, the official October 8, 2026 schedule lists main-route airport departures at 11:30, 13:15 and 14:15, while 12:10 is a 706A. Checking only the main route would miss that option. The October 10 holiday schedule differs again.

Across 706 and 706A on those two dates, the airport-side range starts at 05:55 and ends at 23:15; the railway-station-side range starts at 05:45 and ends at 23:15. These are dated origin-departure examples, not a year-round guarantee or a promise that a late flight will connect. Check the actual travel date, particularly around holidays or severe weather.

Complete immigration, baggage collection and customs before assessing a tight final departure. If no workable bus remains, use the airport’s official taxi queue or a booked transfer. A rail journey that has already finished operating is not a useful late-night fallback.

Choose the stop nearest your hotel

City-bound buses serve the Guoji Road corridor, Zhongshan Zhongping intersection, Zhongshan Zhengguang intersection, Land Reform Museum, Zhensheng High School, Taipower Building, Shin Kong Building and Tao Garden Hotel before Taoyuan railway station. A hotel on Fuxing or Zhongshan Road may be closer to an intermediate stop than the terminus.

The railway-station bus stop is described as the Far Eastern Department Store waiting area. It is a bus stop near the station, not a train platform. Allow the walk into the railway station and time to locate the platform for an onward TRA service. Check which side your hotel is on and whether the route involves stairs, construction or a large road crossing.

Stops with the same name can use different addresses in each direction. After checking in, locate the airport-bound stop for the return. That is easier than discovering before dawn that you are waiting on the wrong side.

Bags, children and direct transfers

Do not assume a city bus has a coach-style luggage hold, a seat for everyone or space for cases in the aisle. If you cannot comfortably move your luggage together, a direct transfer may be worth the extra cost. Supply the passenger count, bag sizes, child-seat needs and exact hotel address when requesting a vehicle.

For a taxi or prebooked car, check nighttime charges, waiting after a flight delay, parking and extra stops. An advertised “airport to Taoyuan” starting price may not cover your address. If your hotel offers a shuttle, confirm the terminal, reservation requirement, last run and late-arrival procedure; a hotel shuttle is a different service from 706.

Returning to the airport

Confirm the airline’s terminal, then find an airport-bound 706-series service. Starting at the railway-station terminus makes the timetable easier to use. At an intermediate stop, arrive early and check the estimate for your actual direction.

Work backward from the airline’s reporting requirement, adding the walk to the stop, waiting, road contingency and the walk to the terminal counter. A map’s driving duration alone is not a safe hotel-leaving deadline. If the first bus cannot meet an early flight, arrange a car the evening before or stay near the airport.
