New Taipei Christmasland 2026 brings the festive season to Banqiao, a major transport hub just outside central Taipei. The event is scheduled for 13 November to 27 December 2026, covering 45 calendar days. New Taipei Civic Plaza, Banqiao Station Front Plaza and Wanping Park are listed as event locations in Taiwan’s official tourism calendar.
These three central locations make Banqiao the starting point for a Christmas outing. Fuzhong, one MRT stop away, offers a useful alternative for dinner, shopping and a neighbourhood walk. It was also part of the 2025 festival, although its participation as a 2026 Christmasland display area should not be assumed.
The dates are now listed in the Tourism Administration’s 2026 event calendar and the organiser’s 2026 event planning document. The official planning notice also identifies 22 October as the scheduled launch press conference, not the public opening date. Specific lighting sessions, performances, markets and temporary entrances depend on the event programme for your visiting date.
Which Christmasland area should you visit?
| Area | Useful for | Planning role | 2026 status |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Taipei Civic Plaza | First-time visitors seeking the main Christmasland atmosphere | Plan your main stop around New Taipei City Hall | Listed in the 2026 tourism calendar; individual displays and showtimes depend on the programme |
| Banqiao station-front plaza | Rail travellers, day visitors and shorter outings | Combine a station-area visit with a planned departure | Listed in the 2026 tourism calendar; follow current event access arrangements |
| Wanping Park | Visitors interested in an outdoor park section | Consider it instead of, or alongside, one central plaza | Listed in the 2026 tourism calendar; previous character displays are not a guide to this year’s theme |
| Fuzhong shopping area and plaza | Dinner, shopping and visitors staying near Fuzhong MRT | A flexible neighbourhood extension or separate evening | A historical 2025 venue; not among the three central locations listed in the current 2026 tourism calendar |
If Christmasland is the main reason for your visit, start with Civic Plaza and decide whether Station Front Plaza or Wanping Park fits your time and interests. If food and a more flexible evening matter more, Fuzhong can be a separate option. There is no need to cover all four areas.
Visitors who prefer to stay close to the transport hub can also compare Banqiao-area accommodation before choosing a return journey. Caesar Park Hotel Banqiao is one station-area hotel option to investigate, not an event admission product or a promise of a Christmasland view. Check the exact room and booking conditions before reserving.
For context, the previous edition ran from 14 November to 28 December 2025 and included New Taipei Civic Plaza, Banqiao station-front plaza, Wanping Park and Fuzhong Plaza. Its LINE FRIENDS characters and circus theme belonged to that edition; neither those designs nor the old dates should be carried into 2026. Official 2025 record

Location index: these are the four geographical areas discussed in this guide. Use the map to understand their positions, then follow current event signs for entrances and pedestrian routes.
- New Taipei City Plaza: In front of New Taipei City Hall, southeast of Banqiao Station; distinct from Taipei City Hall Square
- Banqiao Station Front Plaza: At Banqiao Station and its adjoining pedestrian space
- Wanping Park (New Banqiao Central Park): Southwest of Banqiao Station, around Xinfu Road and Wenhua Road; not the park of the same name in Zhongli
- Fuzhong shopping area and plaza: Around Fuzhong Station, south of Banqiao Station; the 2025 official display was at Fuzhong Plaza, while the wider shopping area serves as dining and transport context
The map shows fixed places, not the 2026 festival boundary, installation positions or temporary entrances. In particular, do not treat a direct line between two places as a guaranteed accessible pedestrian route during an event.
4 Banqiao areas to consider for Christmasland 2026
1. New Taipei Civic Plaza: the main Christmasland atmosphere
![New Taipei Christmas [cy]: 4 Banqiao Areas, Dates and Where to Stay Lamps and surrounding towers at New Taipei City Plaza](https://todolist-taiwan.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/tw-seasonal-d0225881ca235dd4f38bd3b072dd.webp)

New Taipei Civic Plaza, also called New Taipei City Plaza or Citizen Plaza, is the most natural starting point for a first Christmasland visit. The open square sits in front of New Taipei City Hall and has served as a major setting for previous editions. It is one of the locations named in the 2026 tourism calendar.
Make this your main stop if you want to experience the city-centre festive atmosphere rather than spend the evening moving between neighbourhoods. Once the dated programme is available, choose any particular lighting or performance session you want to see and organise dinner around it. Historical projection schedules and photographs do not establish the 2026 showtimes or designs.
For families or groups, agree on a meeting point outside the busiest viewing space and leave time to get through pedestrian crossings. The nearest-looking approach on a map may not be the entrance used during crowd management.
Location: New Taipei City Hall, Banqiao District, New Taipei City. This is not Taipei City Hall in Xinyi, Taipei. When navigating, use the complete place name rather than simply searching for “City Hall”.
German Christmas Market: 4–6 December 2026
- Friday 4 and Saturday 5 December: 11:00–22:00
- Sunday 6 December: 11:00–21:00
The venue is New Taipei City Plaza, 161 Zhongshan Road, Section 1, Banqiao, and MRT Banqiao Exit 3A. Follow the day’s pedestrian instructions for the actual entrance. These are the three-day market hours; Christmasland’s overall dates and lighting sessions have separate schedules. Organiser’s dates and hours
2. Banqiao station-front plaza: convenient for a shorter visit
![New Taipei Christmas [cy]: 4 Banqiao Areas, Dates and Where to Stay Station-plaza sign and Banqiao Station building](https://todolist-taiwan.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/tw-seasonal-09e0b3c1bed4047b534971257b7f.webp)
Banqiao Station Front Plaza is especially useful if you are travelling into New Taipei by High Speed Rail, Taiwan Railways or MRT. The plaza is named in the official 2026 event locations, making it a sensible area to investigate when you have a limited evening or a train to catch.
A practical plan is to arrive at Banqiao, see the station-front area, have dinner and add Civic Plaza only if the programme and your departure time allow. You can also reverse that order and finish nearer the station. Neither approach requires completing a full festival circuit.
Banqiao is a multi-system transport hub, not one shared platform. HSR, Taiwan Railways (TRA), Taipei Metro’s Bannan Line and the Circular Line have separate boarding arrangements. Leave time to find the correct concourse, complete any necessary transfer and reach your booked service.
If you have luggage, use storage only where a hotel or facility has confirmed it is available under the conditions you need. Do not assume lockers, hotel desks or station facilities will operate around the clock.
3. Wanping Park: an outdoor alternative near Banqiao Station
![New Taipei Christmas [cy]: 4 Banqiao Areas, Dates and Where to Stay Circular water feature, trees and paths in Wanping Park](https://todolist-taiwan.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/tw-seasonal-d01aac30ebbb81d498ef14f2704f.webp)

Wanping Park, also known as New Banqiao Central Park, provides a different setting from the Civic Plaza buildings and station-front space. The park is included among the 2026 event locations, although the detailed installation plan determines what visitors can experience there.
Consider Wanping if your group enjoys an outdoor walk or if the announced displays here appeal more than a particular central-plaza show. Families may prefer choosing one park feature and a convenient meal stop instead of trying to find every display. The park’s involvement does not mean it will always be less crowded.
Older photographs may feature character installations, but those are not evidence that the same characters, games or facilities will return. Look at the programme for your date before making promises to children about a particular attraction.
Location: The Banqiao park southwest of Banqiao Station, around Xinfu Road and Wenhua Road. For a stroller, wheelchair or someone who finds long walks difficult, choose the route using current crossings, lifts and any event barriers rather than relying solely on the park’s position on a map. Outdoor paths and connecting routes should not be assumed to be fully covered in rain.
4. Fuzhong shopping area and plaza: dinner and a separate neighbourhood option
![New Taipei Christmas [cy]: 4 Banqiao Areas, Dates and Where to Stay Xianmin Boulevard, circular footbridge and streetscape near Fuzhong Station](https://todolist-taiwan.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/tw-seasonal-e6a1716d519feeab7f92816025d8.webp)

Fuzhong is a useful choice when dinner, shopping or staying near a different MRT station matters more than completing a Christmasland route. The surrounding streets offer a neighbourhood outing that can stand on its own.
Fuzhong Plaza appeared in the official 2025 Christmasland programme. However, the current 2026 tourism calendar names Civic Plaza, Wanping Park and Banqiao Station Front Plaza, not Fuzhong. Treat Fuzhong as a dining and transport extension unless a dated organiser programme identifies a specific 2026 festival activity there.
Fuzhong Station BL06 is one stop from Banqiao BL07 on the Bannan Line. That can be convenient if you plan dinner near Fuzhong before returning to Taipei, but taking the MRT is not automatically faster than walking once station access, waiting and crowd arrangements are considered.
Fuzhong works best as a deliberate choice, not an obligatory fourth stop after a long evening. If you are staying nearby, it may make more sense to eat locally and visit just one of the confirmed central festival locations.
How to get to New Taipei Christmasland from Taipei
Banqiao Station is the main transport hub for the three central locations. It connects Taiwan High Speed Rail (HSR), Taiwan Railways (TRA), the MRT Bannan Line and the Circular Line. Fuzhong is a separate MRT stop, more useful for the shopping and dining district.
By Taipei MRT: BL07 Banqiao or BL06 Fuzhong
From Taipei Main Station BL12, take the blue Bannan Line towards Dingpu or Far Eastern Hospital and get off at Banqiao BL07 for the central Christmasland areas. Continue one more stop to Fuzhong BL06 if the Fuzhong shopping district is your destination.
Banqiao is also served by the Circular Line at Y16. Transferring between Y16 and Bannan Line BL07 requires an out-of-station walk, not a same-platform interchange. Follow the station exit and interchange signs, allowing additional time when changing systems.
For the rail network, use the official Taipei Metro map below. It helps distinguish Banqiao BL07/Y16 from Fuzhong BL06 and shows the connection from Taipei Main BL12. It is a metro network reference, not a Christmasland installation, entrance or crowd-control map.
![New Taipei Christmas [cy]: 4 Banqiao Areas, Dates and Where to Stay Taipei Metro network map showing Banqiao on the Bannan and Circular lines and Fuzhong on the Bannan Line, not a Christmasland event layout](https://todolist-taiwan.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/tw-b6842b36ff3ac164863eb5eedddcacc0-scaled.webp)
Use the official Taipei Metro network and station information when deciding your journey. For broader connections around Taipei, including choosing the appropriate rail service, see our Taipei transportation guide.
By HSR or Taiwan Railways: arrive at Banqiao Station
Travellers coming from another city can use Banqiao’s HSR or TRA station, depending on their route. After arriving, follow signs towards the station exits and the relevant event location. The different rail services share the wider transport hub but have separate platforms, concourses and boarding procedures.
For a same-day return, work backwards from your actual booked train rather than the final lighting or performance session. Allow time for the walk back, pedestrian controls, station queues and reaching the correct boarding area. A later metro service does not mean the HSR, TRA and Circular Line will have matching late-night departures.
Which station exit should you use?
There is no single exit that can be guaranteed as the best entrance for every 2026 visiting date. Banqiao has multiple station and shopping-complex connections, and festival crowd measures may affect pedestrian access. Follow the current signs for your chosen location rather than relying on an exit number printed in an older event guide.
For visitors with strollers, wheelchairs or reduced mobility, check which lifts and crossings lead to the actual operating entrance. A shopping-complex route may be convenient but should not be assumed to remain open, step-free or available until your return time.
An easy one-evening Christmasland itinerary
A good Christmasland evening is usually built around one main area, a meal and a workable journey home. The best sequence depends on which 2026 lighting sessions or activities interest you, not how many map markers you can visit.
Option 1: Civic Plaza and Banqiao Station Front Plaza
Arrive at Banqiao Station, orient yourself around the station-front area and continue towards New Taipei Civic Plaza using the event’s pedestrian signs. Spend your main viewing time at Civic Plaza, then fit dinner and the station-front area around your departure. This is a practical first-visit plan, especially when you need to return to Taipei or catch a train.
Option 2: Wanping Park and a relaxed meal
Choose Wanping Park if its announced attractions suit your interests, then allow time for a meal and return to the transport hub. For families, older travellers or anyone who prefers a shorter walk, enjoying one park section can be more comfortable than moving through several viewing areas.
Option 3: Fuzhong dinner with one Christmasland stop
Have dinner around Fuzhong, then visit one of the three central locations if the available time and connections make sense. Alternatively, begin at Banqiao and finish near Fuzhong Station BL06. This combines a neighbourhood meal with Christmasland without assuming Fuzhong itself has an official 2026 display.
In wet weather, shorten the outdoor portion rather than assuming that park paths, crossings and connecting bridges are sheltered. If your group needs frequent rests, plan around an actual dining or indoor stop and its operating hours. Agree on a meeting place before entering busy areas, particularly when travelling with children.
Is it worth staying in Banqiao for Christmasland?
You do not need to change hotels just to visit Christmasland. If your Taipei accommodation has a convenient MRT connection and your group is comfortable returning that evening, keeping your existing base may be the simplest option. Our Taipei accommodation guide can help you compare locations.
Staying in Banqiao becomes more attractive when visiting with children, travelling with older relatives, planning a later dinner or combining Christmasland with an HSR or TRA journey. It can reduce the need for a longer return trip, although the actual walking route still matters.
There are two useful accommodation areas to compare:
- Banqiao Station and Xinban Special District: A practical starting point if rail connections and the central Christmasland locations are your priorities. Check which entrance you would use and the route between your hotel and the event.
- Fuzhong: Worth comparing if you prefer the surrounding restaurants and shopping streets or accommodation near Fuzhong MRT BL06. It is a different base from the central Banqiao transport hub, not a guaranteed 2026 festival display zone.
Our Banqiao accommodation guide compares station-area and Fuzhong hotel choices in more detail. For Christmasland dates, pay attention to the selected room category, actual walking approach, cancellation conditions and whether the room suits your group. A hotel being in Banqiao does not mean every room overlooks the lights.
One hotel to compare is Caesar Park Hotel Banqiao, with location information also available from the hotel’s official website. Check the available room, booking conditions and approach from the station before reserving. No specific Christmasland view, event-date price or availability is guaranteed here.
New Taipei Christmasland 2026: FAQs
1. What are the New Taipei Christmasland 2026 dates?
Christmasland is scheduled for 13 November to 27 December 2026, a 45-day period listed by Taiwan’s Tourism Administration and in the organiser’s planning document. The 14 November–28 December dates belonged to 2025, while 22 October 2026 is the scheduled launch press conference, not the public opening. Individual themes, shows and market sessions should be planned using the relevant 2026 programme.
2. Which MRT station and exit should I use for Christmasland?
Use Banqiao BL07 on the Bannan Line or Banqiao Y16 on the Circular Line for the central event locations; Fuzhong BL06 is one Bannan Line stop away for the shopping district. Banqiao also serves HSR and TRA, but these are different systems with separate boarding areas. Choose your exit using current event signs, lifts and crowd arrangements rather than assuming an exit recommended in a previous year is still the best choice.
3. Do I need an admission ticket or hotel booking to visit Christmasland?
You do not need a hotel booking or a separate attraction pass simply to plan a walk through the ordinary public spaces around Banqiao. Specific registered activities, reserved viewing arrangements or paid offerings, if introduced, may have their own conditions. Check the relevant activity details instead of assuming every part of the 2026 programme has identical admission rules.
4. Are the light shows, markets and concerts held every day?
The overall 13 November–27 December event period does not mean that every performance, market or special activity operates daily. Lighting times and individual session schedules can differ, so choose your preferred show using the dated 2026 programme before fixing a dinner reservation or return journey. Do not rely on projection times copied from earlier editions.
5. Do families need to visit all four areas, and what if it rains?
No. For children or older travellers, one central area with a meal and a rest may be a better evening than visiting every neighbourhood. In rain, shorten the outdoor route and use current crossing and lift information; the connecting streets and park paths are not necessarily covered or step-free. Fuzhong remains an optional dining extension, not a confirmed fourth 2026 display area.
6. Should I stay in Taipei or Banqiao, and can I book a room with Christmas lights?
Keep your Taipei hotel if the return MRT journey suits your group; moving accommodation is not essential. Staying around Banqiao Station or Xinban may be more convenient for a later visit, while Fuzhong is useful for its dining district and BL06 station. Compare locations in our Banqiao hotel guide, but confirm any advertised view with the property and selected room category rather than assuming all rooms face Christmasland.
7. Can I visit Christmasland by HSR and return after the last show?
A same-day HSR trip is possible only when your actual outbound and return services leave enough time for the event, walking and station procedures. Work backwards from the booked departure and allow a buffer for crowds and reaching the correct platform. The last Christmasland performance is not necessarily timed around the final train, and special late-night service should not be assumed across HSR, TRA and every MRT line.
Three things to decide before you go
- Choose your visiting date: The scheduled 2026 festival runs from 13 November to 27 December. Match the date with the actual lighting, performance or market programme that interests you.
- Choose one main area: Civic Plaza for the central event atmosphere, Station Front Plaza for a rail-focused visit, or Wanping Park for a park-based section. Add Fuzhong for dinner or shopping if it fits naturally.
- Plan the return before the evening begins: Identify BL07, Y16 or BL06 as appropriate, check any HSR or TRA reservation, and allow time for the actual entrance, pedestrian crossings and station queues.
With Banqiao’s main locations connected by a substantial transport hub, Christmasland can work as a focused evening from Taipei or as part of a longer New Taipei stay. Pick the displays you most want to see, leave room for dinner and travel, and let the current programme shape the evening rather than trying to fit every area into one visit.
