Penghu Airport to Magong: choose the stop for your hotel or ferry

For a straightforward arrival in 2026, check route 004, the Penghu Airport Express. A taxi or booked transfer may work better with bulky bags, an inconvenient hotel location or a late arrival. Start with the hotel’s full address: “Magong” covers more than the streets beside the bus terminal.

If you are connecting to a boat, identify the actual departure facility. Magong Harbor and the South Sea Visitor Center are separate stops. Getting into town is not the same as reaching the correct check-in counter.

    Choice Cost basis Best fit
004 Airport Express Ordinary single NT$30 A hotel near the route and a flexible arrival
Taxi or private transfer Meter or quote for your address and vehicle Groups, bags or a hotel away from bus stops
Accommodation pickup Confirm inclusion and reservation requirements A property that confirms the requested service

    Finding the airport bus stop

The airport’s bus page and location diagram place the stop by the terminal’s southern exit, to the left of the ground-floor arrivals exit. Follow the signs after collecting your luggage and verify the route before boarding.

For a private pickup, agree the meeting place rather than relying on “outside arrivals.” Flight landing time is not the moment you are ready to leave. Allow time for baggage and finding the driver when selecting a pickup slot.

Which Airport Express stop do you need?

The route map connects the airport with Penghu Visitor Center, Wenao, International Plaza, South Sea Visitor Center, Beichen Market, Penghu Reclamation Hall, the main bus station and Magong Harbor. Its stop-location links help you compare the final walk to your destination.

Do not ride to the last stop simply because it sounds central. If your hotel is near Wenao, continuing to the old-town waterfront may create an unnecessary return journey. For a waterfront property, compare the bus station and harbor stops against the actual entrance.

    Fare and ticket choices

The ordinary single fare for 004 is NT$30. The page lists cash and supported stored-value cards, including EasyCard. Bring suitable change or a card with enough balance, and do not apply this fare automatically to unrelated island bus services.

The NT$49 day pass is valid for use through December 31, 2026. Two ordinary rides on the same day cost NT$60, so the pass saves NT$11; it is useful only when those journeys fall on the same day. An arrival today and a flight home several days later are not two rides on the same day pass. Compare the ticket with your real itinerary rather than buying because it sounds like a visitor product.

Promotional free rides can have event dates, eligibility and payment conditions. Check those conditions before budgeting on a free trip; a music-festival notice is not a year-round fare policy.

    Timetables and ordinary public buses

The current 004 timetable records a change from March 1, 2026. Airport-to-Magong departures run from 08:00 to 20:40 at about 40-minute intervals. The reverse direction starts at Magong Harbor at 07:20 and ends at 20:00; the first departure is different at each end.

For example, the 10:00 airport departure is listed at Wenao 10:08, South Sea Visitor Center 10:10, the main bus station 10:13 and Magong Harbor 10:30. That gives an approximately 30-minute full trip, with intermediate times treated as estimates. Waiting, baggage reclaim and the final walk are extra. For a South Sea departure, do not stay on to Magong Harbor merely because it is the terminus.

Standing passengers are not accepted on 004, so a full bus requires another option. If baggage reclaim leaves you too late for 20:40, or your group would rather avoid another 40-minute wait, compare a taxi or confirmed transfer. This guide focuses on 004 and direct vehicle options rather than assuming other airport buses have the same stops.

    Private transfers and accommodation pickups

The Klook Penghu private-transfer product lists Penghu Airport and Magong City as selectable endpoints. Choose the airport pickup, the relevant town drop-off and your date, then confirm your full address is covered. This is an affiliate link; availability and the final price depend on the selected package.

Check bags, child seats, waiting charges and cancellation rules. The product asks for flight information and has delay-related waiting charges, so it should not be treated as unlimited free waiting. For hotel pickups, obtain confirmation before travel rather than assuming every property offers an airport shuttle.

Returning to the airport or connecting to a ferry

Work backward from your airline’s check-in requirement, adding the walk to the stop, waiting and the road journey. If your flight is too early for the useful bus service, arrange another vehicle. A predicted bus arrival is not a boarding guarantee.

For a flight-to-ferry connection, confirm the pier and ticket-collection point before calculating the transfer. Allow room for flight and baggage delays. If missing the boat would materially disrupt the trip, consider a less tightly connected sailing.

    A few practical questions

Are Magong Harbor and South Sea Visitor Center one stop?

No. Use the location named on your ferry confirmation.

Can a day pass cover my return several days later?

    No. Follow its valid-day rules.

Does a private pickup wait indefinitely after a flight delay?

Not necessarily. Check the selected package’s waiting and delay charges.
