Keelung to Badouzi 2026: Bus 103, the Museum and Chaojing Park

If you are already in central Keelung, start with city bus 103 for Badouzi rather than detouring through Ruifang to reach the coast by train. Badouzi is an area, not one entrance: the marine museum, Chaojing Park and Badouzi railway station are different destinations. Decide whether you want exhibitions, a coastal walk or the railway viewpoint before choosing where to get off.

Find the Badouzi-bound 103 at Keelung

From Keelung railway station, follow local signs to the bus transfer station and locate the boarding point for 103 toward Badouzi. Old descriptions such as “in front of the railway station” can be unhelpful around a harbour with several nearby stops. Check the route number, direction and live arrival before joining the queue.

The operator lists 103 variants via Zhongzheng Road and Xiangfeng Street. Their city sections differ, so check the actual stop sequence for your departure. The published ordinary adult fare is NT$15; reduced fares have separate eligibility rules. Two ordinary adult rides cost NT$30 in total, excluding your train journey and any museum admission.

Choose the museum, park or railway station

For the marine museum, 海科館(碧水巷) is a useful arrival stop; follow signs to the building named on your ticket. The main exhibition hall and facilities around Chaojing are not one entrance. Likewise, 八斗子, 八斗子分站 and 八斗子車站 are different stop names. Saving the full Chinese destination is more helpful than asking for “Badouzi” alone.

Keelung’s tourism directions send Chaojing Park visitors off 103 at 海科館(碧水巷), then across Pinglang Bridge. For the railway viewpoint, continue to 八斗子車站 instead. You do not need to enter the museum simply to see the station coast. Combining all three destinations requires time for walking, crossings and locating the return stop.

Treat 25 minutes as a driving reference

The museum’s official access page gives approximately 8 kilometres and 25 minutes for the 103 connection from Keelung. Use that to understand the scale of the journey, not as a guaranteed door-to-door duration. Walking from the train, waiting, road traffic and reaching your exhibition entrance are additional. Work backwards from any timed show and leave room for those stages.

With half a day, choose either the main museum with a short nearby walk or Chaojing with the railway viewpoint. Families can begin indoors and decide later whether everyone still wants the coastal walk. Finishing near a stop with a checked return connection is more practical than adding a final distant viewpoint simply because it appears nearby on the map.

Why 108 and T99 are secondary choices

Route 108 is labelled for Chaojing Park, but the official listing shows limited fixed departures. It is not a frequent all-day shuttle. Find a usable departure from the Keelung end before building the outing around it, and compare the total wait with taking 103 and walking. Saving a little walking does not necessarily save time.

T99 also serves the museum area and Badouzi station. Its published 2026 service is restricted to weekends and public holidays between 1 May and 31 October; weekdays and the remaining months have no service. That dated arrangement should not be projected into future years. The sightseeing route also visits other places, so it is not a daily express link from central Keelung.

Use the Shen’ao Line when Ruifang fits your trip

Haikeguan and Badouzi are railway stations on the Shen’ao branch, connected through Ruifang. That makes the train useful if you are already approaching from Ruifang. From central Keelung, a bus is the more straightforward starting point for the museum or park; Keelung and Ruifang are not interchangeable transfer stations. A bus in one direction and train in the other can work if you deliberately plan the onward journey.

Before leaving Badouzi by rail, check the train’s actual destination and any change required at Ruifang. Do not assume a branch-line train runs directly to Taipei. Haikeguan station also leaves a walk to the museum building. For step-free travel, verify station assistance, platform access and the destination’s street route independently.

Keep a simple return and wet-weather plan

For central Keelung, find a 103 stop signed toward the transfer station. Do not assume the return stop is directly across from the outward one, particularly where variants and one-way streets differ. Save the stop name on arrival and check live departures before ending your visit. If you switch to a railway return, remember where any stored bags need collecting.

Coastal wind and rain can make a short walk less comfortable than expected. Carry a light rain layer and shorten the outdoor stage when conditions deteriorate. Do not enter closed coastal areas or cross barriers. Large luggage and pushchairs complicate transfers, while wheelchair users should confirm the suitable bus departure in advance. A long-duration transport pass is unnecessary solely for two NT$15 rides.

    Route information before you travel

Open the official route information and transport map. Recheck your date, direction and exact boarding stop before departure.

Compare a ticket if you intend to enter the main exhibition hall. A walk in Chaojing Park does not require this museum ticket; check any theatre or other hall inclusion separately.

    Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct train from Keelung to Badouzi?

Do not plan it as a direct branch-line connection. The Shen’ao Line connects through Ruifang; from central Keelung, compare bus 103 first.

Is the Badouzi bus stop the railway station?

Not necessarily. 八斗子車站 identifies the station destination. Other Badouzi-named stops serve different parts of the district.

Where should I leave 103 for Chaojing Park?

Use 海科館(碧水巷), then follow the route across Pinglang Bridge. The museum name does not mean every building is beside that stop.

    What does 103 cost?

The published ordinary adult fare is NT$15. Reduced fares depend on eligibility; railway travel and attraction admission are separate.

Is the museum 25 minutes from the train platform?

No. About 25 minutes is a bus-driving reference. Add the station exit, bus wait and walk to the museum entrance.

Can I turn up for 108 at any time?

That is a poor plan for a service with limited fixed departures. Check the Keelung-end departure before choosing it over 103 plus walking.

    Does T99 operate on weekdays?

The 2026 arrangement is weekends and public holidays from 1 May to 31 October, with no weekday operation. Recheck the policy for a different year.

Does the main museum ticket cover every Chaojing facility?

Do not assume so. Compare the named hall, theatre and other facilities in the selected package. Transport planning and ticket coverage are separate decisions.

Can I visit the museum and Badouzi station together?

Yes, but allow for the ground connection and your return. The railway station is not simply another entrance to the museum building.

Is bus or train better for a wheelchair user?

Compare the actual departure, boarding assistance and final street route. Confirm with the relevant operator rather than choosing on map distance alone.
